Yeah it wasn't really true to the book in a lot of places but I thought the new director did a really good job otherwise.

Well, you needn't worry. If we who like the books are dorks, then at least there is more than just one of us!!! I love the books. I find the movies really destroy the magic for me though. I really do not want to be seeing Daniel Radcliffe in my head every time I read about Harry Potter. It drives me nuts!

yeah, i'd agree with you but even before the movie i'd have the image of the cover illustration in my mind when i was reading it.

i'm trying to not see the narnia movie so that it doesn't mess with my image of narnia... god i love those books. they were like the harry potter books but better (not better per se, but more addictive to me at least).

<3 narnia!!

I saw HP 4 and it was pretty cool. I agree, though, WCSP, that the movies don't at all capture the HP world nearly as well as the books and my imagination do, but it's still fun to watch the Weasley twins...and Cedric Diggory was delish.

Christ, Bezoomny, I'm not sure I can resist seeing the Narnia flick, though I feel the same way you do. Since the Lord of the Rings movies augmented, rather than screwed up, my love of the books, I live in hope...

Fred and George were awesome in this one. I was happy that they got much more screen time. Thought Diggory was kind of...bleck...he did make a brill corpse, though; his acting was good. I would think that this Narnia movie will be better than previous attempts. Y'know...the series where Aslan is basically a giant puppet that looks cheesy. Like you said, LotR was done very well and were close enough to the books to make me happy. It helps that they came out with extended versions to appease those who love the books.

i am doing the same, i have narnia in my head and that's the one i want to see.
Plus screw Disney. You know they'll mass market it like everything else cause
they are a big group of pedophilic money grubbing bastards.

imagine a little kid clutching a stuffed Aslan as he whines for more cake and ice cream.
It's makes me get that vomit taste in my mouth...

a fair question. Last I heard she got married and was finishing her uni course. Perhaps she has no need for this piddly wee messageboard any more.

i'll settle the debate. Harry Potter is a fud.

end of.

last film I saw was 'Lord of War' with Nic Cage, decent enough film but I find myself becoming intolerant of Cage as I get older, mainly for the fact that he's not a very good actor.
